Octopuses have three hearts

Three hearts, blue blood, and a reason to hate swimming.

Watch on YouTube
An octopus has three hearts, blue blood, and a reason to hate swimming.

Two small hearts pump blood through the gills. The third, bigger heart pushes it around the rest of the body.

Their blood is blue because it carries oxygen with copper instead of iron.

Here's the strange part. When an octopus swims, that main heart stops beating. Swimming wears it out fast.

That's why octopuses would much rather crawl along the sea floor than swim through open water.

Three hearts, and it still chooses to walk. Follow for more animal facts that sound made up.
